Section on voluntary prayers – mentioning the recommendation to pray two rak’ahs when leaving the house
Hadith 2514
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحسَنِ بْنِ مُكْرَمٍ ، بِالْبَصْرَةِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ ، عَنِ الْمِقْدَامِ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لَهَا : بِأَيِّ شَيْءٍ كَانَ يَبْدَأُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا دَخَلَ عَلَيْكِ ، وَإِذَا خَرَجَ مِنْ عِنْدِكِ ؟ قَالَتْ : " كَانَ يَبْدَأُ إِذَا دَخَلَ بِالسِّوَاكِ ، وَإِذَا خَرَجَ صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ " .
Miqdam bin Shurayh narrates from his father regarding Sayyidah Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her), (his father says): I asked Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) would come to you, what would he do first, and when he would leave from you, what would he do? Sayyidah Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) replied: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) would enter the house, the first thing he would do was use the miswak, and when he would leave, he would perform two units of voluntary prayer.
