Hadith 2509
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ السَّعْدِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ بَعْدَمَا دَخَلَ فِي السِّنِّ ، وَكَانَ إِذَا بَقِيَ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ السُّورَةِ ثَلاثُونَ آيَةً قَامَ فَقَرَأَهَا ، ثُمَّ رَكَعَ " .
Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) became advanced in age, he used to perform voluntary prayers while sitting. When about thirty verses of a surah remained, he would stand up and recite them, then go into bowing (ruku).
