Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) came to the people of Banu Amr on a Wednesday. He said: When you come for your Eid (i.e., on Friday), if you stay there and listen to my speech, that would be appropriate. They said: Certainly, may our parents be sacrificed for you, O Messenger of Allah! The narrator says: When those people participated in the Friday (prayer), the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) led them in the Friday prayer, then after Friday he performed two rak‘ahs in the mosque. Before that day, he had not been seen performing two rak‘ahs in the mosque after Friday; before that, after performing the obligatory prayer, he used to go to his home.
