Section on voluntary prayers – mentioning permission for one who missed the two rak’ahs before Fajr with the congregation to pray them after the morning prayer
Hadith 2471
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْخَوْلانِيُّ الْمِصْرِيُّ ، بِطَرَسُوسَ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ ، قَالُوا : أَخْبَرَنَا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَيْسِ بْنِ قَهْدٍ " أَنَّهُ صَلَّى مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الصُّبْحَ ، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ رَكَعَ رَكْعَتَيِ الْفَجْرِ ، فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، سلم مَعَهُ ، ثُمَّ قَامَ فَرَكَعَ رَكْعَتَيِ الْفَجْرِ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ ، فَلَمْ يُنْكِرْ ذَلِكَ عَلَيْهِ " .
Sayyiduna Qais bin Qahd (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: He offered the morning prayer behind the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). He had not performed the two rak‘ahs of Sunnah before Fajr. When the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) finished the prayer with salam, he also finished with salam along with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Then he stood up and performed the two rak‘ahs of Sunnah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) kept looking at him, but did not object to him regarding this matter.
