Section on voluntary prayers – mentioning a report refuting the claim that one entering the mosque after the morning prayer has started should begin with the two rak’ahs of Fajr even if he misses a rak’ah of the obligatory prayer
Hadith 2470
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ الصَّفَّارُ ، بِالْمِصِّيصَةِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلاةُ فَلا صَلاةَ إِلا الْمَكْتُوبَةَ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When the Iqamah for prayer is called, only the obligatory prayer may be performed."
