Section on voluntary prayers – mentioning the prohibition of praying the two rak’ahs of Fajr after the morning prayer has begun
Hadith 2469
أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حَمْدُونَ بْنِ هِشَامٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الدَّارِمِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَامِرٍ الْخَزَّازُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي مُلَيْكَةَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : أُقِيمَتْ صَلاةُ الصُّبْحِ ، فَقُمْتُ لأُصَلِّيَ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ ، فَأَخَذَ بِيَدِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَالَ : " أَتُصَلِّي الصُّبْحَ أَرْبَعًا ؟ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The iqamah for the morning prayer was pronounced and I began to perform two rak'ahs at that time. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) took hold of my hand and said: Will you perform four rak'ahs in the morning prayer?
