Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a person has performed the two rak‘ahs of Fajr Sunnah, he should lie down on his right side." Upon this, Marwan said to him: Is it permissible for a person to proceed towards the mosque before lying down? Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) replied: No. The narrator says: This was reported to Sayyiduna Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), so he said: Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) has been too strict. The narrator says: Sayyiduna ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) was asked: Do you deny anything that Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) is saying? He replied: No, but he has added to the things that are obligatory upon us. When this was reported to Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: My only fault is that I have remembered some things which they have forgotten.
