Section on voluntary prayers – mentioning the recommendation to perform the two rak’ahs of Fajr at the beginning of dawn
Hadith 2462
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ السَّعْدِيُّ ، بِمَرْوَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ الْعَدَنِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيِ الْفَجْرِ إِذَا أَضَاءَ الْفَجْرُ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates this statement from Sayyidah Hafsah (may Allah be pleased with her): The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform the two rak'ahs (Sunnah) of Fajr after the true dawn had appeared.
