Section on Witr prayer – mentioning the time to perform Witr at night after night prayer
Hadith 2444
أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ ، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ بْنِ أَبِي الشَّعْثَاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ ، قَالَ: سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ : مَتَى كَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُوتِرُ؟ قَالَتْ: " إِذَا سَمِعَ الصَّارِخَ يَعْنِي: الدِّيكَ . " وَكَانَ أَحَبُّ الْعَمَلِ إِلَيْهِ أَدْوَمَهُ وَإِنْ قَلَّ " .
Masruq reports: I asked Sayyida Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform Witr. She replied: When he heard the crowing of the rooster. The most beloved deed to him was that which was done regularly, even if it was little.
