Section on repeating the prayer – mentioning a report refuting the claim that Mu’adh led his people in his obligatory prayer, not a voluntary one
Hadith 2403
أَخْبَرَنَا حَاجِبُ بْنُ أَرْكِينَ ، بِدِمَشْقَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَرَفَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورِ بْنِ زَاذَانَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ " أَنَّ مُعَاذًا كَانَ يُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلاةَ الْعِشَاءِ الآخِرَةِ ، ثُمَّ يَنْصَرِفُ إِلَى قَوْمِهِ فَيُصَلِّي بِهِمْ تِلْكَ الصَّلاةَ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: Sayyiduna Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him) used to perform the 'Isha prayer behind the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), then he would return to his people and lead them in this prayer.
