Chapter on What is Disliked and Not Disliked – Report Indicating Permissibility of Minor Actions in Prayer
Hadith 2349
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ ابْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " اعْتَرَضَ الشَّيْطَانُ فِي مُصَلايَ ، فَأَخَذْتُ بِحَلْقِهِ فَخَنَقْتُهُ حَتَّى وَجَدْتُ بَرْدَ لِسَانِهِ عَلَى كَفِّي ، وَلَوْلا مَا كَانَ مِنْ دَعْوَةِ أَخِي سُلَيْمَانَ ، لأَصْبَحَ مُوثَقًا تَنْظُرُونَ إِلَيْهِ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates this statement of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him: "Satan came in front of my prayer mat, so I caught him by the throat and strangled him until I felt the coolness of his tongue on my palm. If it were not for my brother Solomon’s (peace be upon him) supplication, he (the devil) would have been tied up until morning and you people would have seen him."
