Chapter on What is Disliked and Not Disliked – Permissibility to Carry a Clean Item on the Shoulder During Prayer
Hadith 2339
أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ حَنْظَلَةَ الصَّيْفِيُّ ، بِسَرَخْسَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُشْكَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عُمَيْسٍ ، عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ الزُّرَقِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَحْمِلُ أُمَامَةَ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي ، فَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَرْكَعَ وَضَعَهَا ، ثُمَّ سَجَدَ ، فَإِذَا قَامَ حَمَلَهَا ، وَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَرْكَعَ وَضَعَهَا " .
Sayyiduna Abu Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was carrying Sayyidah Umamah (may Allah be pleased with her) during the prayer. When he would go into ruku (bowing), he would put her down to stand, then he would go into sajdah (prostration). When he stood up again, he would pick her up again, and when he was about to go into ruku, he would put her down to stand again.
