Chapter on What is Disliked and Not Disliked – Command to Drape the Garment Over the Shoulder When Praying in One Garment
Hadith 2303
أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ سَلْمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَجُلٌ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَيُصَلِّي الرَّجُلُ فِي الثَّوْبِ الْوَاحِدِ ؟ فَقَالَ : " لِيَتَوَشَّحْ بِهِ ، ثُمَّ لِيُصَلِّ فِيهِ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: A man asked: O Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)! Can a person perform prayer in a single garment? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: He should wrap it around himself like a sheikh and then perform prayer in it.
