Chapter on What is Disliked and Not Disliked – Prohibition of Occupying a Spot in the Mosque for Non-Prayer Purposes
Hadith 2278
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْحَنْظَلِيُّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لا يُوطِنُ الرَّجُلُ الْمَسْجِدَ لِلصَّلاةِ أَوْ لِذِكْرِ اللَّهِ إِلا تَبَشْبَشَ اللَّهُ بِهِ كَمَا يَتَبَشْبَشُ أَهْلُ الْغَائِبِ إِذَا قَدِمَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَائِبُهُمْ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "When a person stays in the mosque to perform prayer or to remember Allah, Allah becomes as pleased with him as the family of a person who had been absent for a long time becomes pleased upon his return."
