Chapter on What is Disliked and Not Disliked – Prohibition of Spitting Toward the Qiblah or to the Right in Prayer
Hadith 2267
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ النَّرْسِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِذَا كَانَ أَحَدُكُمْ فِي صَلاتِهِ ، فَلا يَتْفُلْ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ ، وَلا بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ ، فَإِنَّهُ يُنَاجِي رَبَّهُ ، وَلَكِنْ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ ، أَوْ تَحْتَ قَدَمِهِ " .
Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, narrates this statement of the Noble Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: "When a person is performing prayer, he should not spit to his right or in front of him because he is supplicating before his Lord; rather, he should spit to his left or beneath his feet."
