Chapter on What is Disliked and Not Disliked – Report That May Clarify the Ambiguity in Ibn al-Mubarak’s Report
Hadith 2246
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدُ بْنُ مُسَرْهَدٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى الْقَطَّانِ ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي الْحَارِثُ بْنُ شُبَيْلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَمْرٍو الشَّيْبَانِيِّ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَرْقَمَ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ الرَّجُلُ يُكَلِّمُ صَاحِبَهُ فِي الصَّلاةِ بِالْحَاجَةِ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، حَتَّى نَزَلَتْ : حَافِظُوا عَلَى الصَّلَوَاتِ سورة البقرة آية 238 " الآيَةَ .
Sayyiduna Zayd bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: In the blessed time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), previously a person would converse with his companion during prayer regarding some of his work, until this verse was revealed: "Guard strictly the prayers."
