Chapter on the Obligation to Follow the Imam – Obligation for the Follower to Wait for the Imam’s Prostration Before Following
Hadith 2226
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ الْعَبْدِيُّ ، وَحَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ الْحَوْضِيُّ ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، قَالَ : أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ أَخْبَرَنِي ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ يَزِيدَ ، يَقُولُ : حَدَّثَنَا الْبَرَاءُ وَكَانَ غَيْرَ كَذُوبٍ ، أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا : " إِذَا صَلُّوا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَامُوا قِيَامًا حَتَّى يَرَوْهُ قَدْ سَجَدَ ، ثُمَّ يَسْجُدُونَ " .
Sayyiduna Bara’ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: And he did not speak falsely. He says, when the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) used to pray with the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), after raising their heads from bowing (ruku‘), they would remain standing, until when they saw that he had gone into prostration, then they would also go into prostration.
