Chapter on the Obligation to Follow the Imam – Mention of the First Condition Permitting This Act
Hadith 2210
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، وَعِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ائْذَنُوا لِلنِّسَاءِ إِلَى الْمَسَاجِدِ بِاللَّيْلِ " . فَقَالَ بَعْضُ بَنِيهِ : لا تَأْذَنْ لَهُنَّ ، فَيَتَّخِذْنَهُ دَغَلا . قَالَ : فَعَلَ اللَّهُ بِكَ وَفَعَلَ ، أَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَتَقُولُ : لا تَأْذَنْ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allow women to go to the mosques at night." One of the sons of Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Do not allow these women, otherwise they will make it a means of mischief. So Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said: May Allah do this and that with you, I am saying what the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, and you are saying: Do not allow them.
