Chapter on the Obligation to Follow the Imam – Where the Lone Follower Should Stand in Relation to the Imam
Hadith 2196
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ مَوْلَى ثَقِيفٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَشْعَثِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عُلَيَّةَ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : بِتُّ عِنْدَ خَالَتِي مَيْمُونَةَ ، " فَقَامَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي ، فَقُمْتُ أُصَلِّي ، فَقُمْتُ عَنْ يَسَارِهِ ، فَأَخَذَ بِرَأْسِي فَأَقَامَنِي عَنْ يَمِينِهِ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: He spent the night at the house of his maternal aunt, Sayyida Maymunah (may Allah be pleased with her). The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) got up to perform prayer, so I also got up to perform prayer. I stood on his left side, so he took hold of my head and made me stand on his right side.
