Chapter on the Obligation to Follow the Imam – How to Place Shoes When Intending to Pray
Hadith 2189
أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ مُجَاشِعٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هَوْذَةُ بْنُ خَلِيفَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبَّادِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدِيثًا يَرْفَعْهُ إِلَى أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ سُفْيَانَ ، وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ ، قَالَ : " حَضَرْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ الْفَتْحِ وَصَلَّى فِي الْكَعْبَةِ ، فَخَلَعَ نَعْلَيْهِ فَوَضَعَهُمَا عَنْ يَسَارِهِ ، ثُمَّ افْتَتَحَ سُورَةَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ، فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ ذِكْرَ عِيسَى أَوْ مُوسَى أَخَذَتْهُ سَعْلَةٌ فَرَكَعَ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Sa’ib (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: On the occasion of the conquest of Makkah, I was also present with the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). He performed prayer inside the Ka’bah. He removed his shoes and placed them to his left side, then he began reciting Surah Al-Mu’minun. When he reached the mention of Sayyiduna Isa or perhaps Sayyiduna Musa, he started coughing, so he went into bowing (ruku).
