Chapter on the Obligation to Follow the Imam – Permissibility of Moving Children from the First Row When Adults are Present
1 hadith
Hadith 2181
Qais bin ‘Abad narrates: Once I was present in the first row in a mosque in Madinah Munawwarah and was standing and performing prayer. A person from behind pulled me and moved me aside and stood in my place. By Allah! I lost track of my prayer. Then when he completed the prayer, he was Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka‘b (may Allah be pleased with him). He said: O my nephew! May Allah not do bad to you, this is a covenant from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with us that we should stand close to you (i.e., near the Imam). Then he turned towards the Qiblah and said: The people of the covenant, by the Lord of the Ka‘bah, have perished. He said this three times, then he said: By Allah! There is no regret for those people. Regret is for those who led them astray. The narrator says: I asked: Who are those meant by this? He replied: The rulers.
