Chapter on the Obligation to Follow the Imam - Allah's forgiveness and the angels' prayers for those in the first row
Hadith 2157
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ فَرُّوخَ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرُ بْنُ حَازِمٍ ، سَمِعْتُ زُبَيْدًا الإِيَامِيَّ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ مُصَرِّفٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْسَجَةَ ، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْتِينَا ، فَيَمْسَحُ عَوَاتِقَنَا وَصُدُورَنَا وَيَقُولُ : " لا تَخْتَلِفْ صُفُوفُكُمْ فَتَخْتَلِفَ قُلُوبُكُمْ ، إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَمَلائِكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ عَلَى الصَّفِّ الأَوَّلِ " .
Sayyiduna Bara’ (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to come to us. He would pass his hand over our necks and our chests and would say: “Do not have differences in your rows, otherwise there will be differences in your hearts. Indeed, Allah Almighty and His angels send mercy upon those in the first row.”
