Chapter on the Obligation to Follow the Imam - Permission for the imam to lead people in an open area without a wall
Hadith 2151
أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " أَقْبَلْتُ رَاكِبًا عَلَى أَتَانٍ ، وَأَنَا يَوْمَئِذٍ قَدْ نَاهَزْتُ الاحْتِلامَ ، وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي بِالنَّاسِ بِمِنًى ، فَمَرَرْتُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ بَعْضِ الصَّفِّ ، فَنَزَلْتُ ، وَأَرْسَلْتُ الأَتَانَ تَرْتَعُ ، وَدَخَلْتُ فِي الصَّفِّ ، وَلَمْ يُنْكِرْ ذَلِكَ عَلَيَّ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: I came riding on a donkey. At that time, I was near the age of puberty. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was leading the people in prayer at Mina. I passed in front of part of a row, then I dismounted and let the donkey graze, and I joined the row myself. No one objected to my (action).
