Hadith 2121
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنِ الأَسْوَدِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : " لَمَّا وَجَدَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ نَفْسِهِ خِفَّةً ، جَاءَ حَتَّى جَلَسَ عَنْ يَسَارِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، وَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي بِالنَّاسِ قَاعِدًا ، وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ قَائِمًا " . قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ : وَأَمَّا إِجْمَالُ الْخَبَرِ ، فَإِنَّ عَائِشَةَ حَكَتْ هَذِهِ الصَّلاةَ إِلَى هَذَا الْمَوْضِعِ ، وَآخِرُ الْقِصَّةِ عِنْدَ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، إِذِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَمَرَهُمْ بِالْقُعُودِ أَيْضًا فِي هَذِهِ الصَّلاةِ كَمَا أَمَرَهُمْ بِهِ عِنْدَ سُقُوطِهِ عَنِ فَرَسِهِ عَلَى حَسْبِ مَا ذَكَرْنَاهُ قَبْلُ .
Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) felt better in his health, he came and sat down to the left of Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him). The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) was leading the people in prayer while sitting, and Sayyiduna Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) was standing (and leading the prayer). (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) As far as the ambiguity of this narration is concerned, the ambiguity is that Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) mentioned this prayer, which is about this particular occasion, while the other incident is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir bin Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him), in which the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered the people to sit down. That too is about this same prayer, just as the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) gave them this order when he had fallen from a horse, as we have mentioned this narration earlier.
