Chapter on the Obligation of Congregation and Excuses Permitting Its Omission - The eighth excuse: harmful rain
Hadith 2078
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ الزُّهْرِيُّ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، ، أَنَّهُ أَذَّنَ بِالصَّلاةِ فِي لَيْلَةٍ ذَاتِ بَرْدٍ وَرِيحٍ ، وَقَالَ : أَلا صَلُّوا فِي الرِّحَالِ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَأْمُرُ الْمُؤَذِّنَ إِذَا كَانَتْ لَيْلَةٌ ذَاتُ بُرْدٍ وَمَطَرٍ ، يَقُولُ : " أَلا صَلُّوا فِي الرِّحَالِ " .
Nafi' narrates: Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) gave the call to prayer on a cold and windy night and said: "Beware, perform the prayer at your residence." Then he explained this matter: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to instruct the mu'adhdhin, when the night was cold or rainy, to say: "Beware, perform the prayer at your residence."
