Chapter on the Obligation of Congregation and Excuses Permitting Its Omission - The seventh excuse: severe, painful cold
Hadith 2076
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حِبَّانُ بْنُ مُوسَى السُّلَمِيُّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ هُوَ ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ عُقْبَةَ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، ، أَنَّهُ وَجَدَ ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ بَرْدًا شَدِيدًا ، فَأَذِنَ مَنْ مَعَهُ فَصَلُّوا فِي رِحَالِهِمْ ، وَقَالَ : إِنِّي رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا كَانَ مِثْلُ هَذَا : " أَمَرَ النَّاسَ أَنْ يُصَلُّوا فِي رِحَالِهِمْ " .
It is narrated about Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) that (during a journey) one night he felt intense cold, so he gave permission to his companions to perform the prayer at their place of residence, and he informed us of this matter. He said, "I have seen the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), when such a situation occurred, he would instruct the people to perform the prayer at their place of residence."
