Hadith 2043
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدُ بْنُ مُسَرْهَدِ بْنِ مُسَرْبَلِ بْنِ مُغَرْبَلٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " صَلاةُ الرَّجُلِ فِي جَمَاعَةٍ تَزِيدُ عَلَى صَلاتِهِ فِي بَيْتِهِ ، وَصَلاتِهِ فِي سُوقِهِ خَمْسًا وَعِشْرِينَ دَرَجَةً ، وَذَلِكَ أَنَّ أَحَدَهُمْ إِذَا تَوَضَّأَ فَأَحْسَنَ الْوُضُوءَ ، ثُمَّ أَتَى الْمَسْجِدَ لا يُرِيدُ إِلا الصَّلاةَ لَمْ يَخْطُ خُطْوَةً إِلا رَفَعَ اللَّهُ لَهُ بِهَا دَرَجَةً ، وَحَطَّ عَنْهُ بِهَا خَطِيئَةً حَتَّى يَدْخُلَ الْمَسْجِدَ ، فَإِذَا دَخَلَ الْمَسْجِدَ كَانَ فِي صَلاةٍ مَا كَانَتِ الصَّلاةُ تَحْبِسُهُ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "A man's prayer in congregation is twenty-five (25) degrees more virtuous than his prayer in his house or in his market. Its explanation is as follows: when a person performs ablution and performs it well, then he comes to the mosque with the sole intention of offering prayer, then for every step he takes, Allah Almighty raises his rank in return and forgives his sin because of it, until that person enters the mosque. When he enters the mosque, he is continuously counted as being in the state of prayer as long as he remains in the mosque for the sake of prayer."
