Hadith 2040
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو خَلِيفَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدُ بْنُ مُسَرْهَدٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنِ التَّيْمِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَجُلٌ لا أَعْلَمُ أَحَدًا مِنْ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ مِمَّنْ يُصَلِّي الْقِبْلَةَ يَشْهَدُ الصَّلاةَ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَبْعَدَ جِوَارًا مِنَ الْمَسْجِدِ مِنْهُ ، فَقِيلَ : لَوِ ابْتَعْتَ حِمَارًا تَرْكَبُهُ فِي الرَّمْضَاءِ ، أَوِ الظَّلْمَاءِ ، فَقَالَ : مَا يَسُرُّنِي أَنَّ مَنْزِلِي بِلِزْقِ الْمَسْجِدِ ، فَذُكِرَ ذَلِكَ للنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَنْطَاكَ اللَّهُ ذَلِكَ كُلَّهُ ، أَوْ أَعْطَاكَ اللَّهُ مَا احْتَسَبْتَ " .
Sayyiduna Ubayy bin Ka'b (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: There was a man, to my knowledge, among the people of Madinah, among those who faced the Qiblah and performed prayers, and who joined the congregation behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). Among them, no one's house was farther from the mosque than this man's house. It was said to him: If you buy a donkey on which you can ride and come (to the mosque) in the seasons of cold and heat, (it would be appropriate). He replied: I do not like that my house should be right next to the mosque. This matter was mentioned to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Allah will grant you all of this (the narrator is in doubt, perhaps these are the words): The reward you hope for, Allah will grant you that.
