Hadith 2024
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الْعِجْلِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى ، عَنْ شَيْبَانَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ مُصْعَبِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، وَعَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ الأَوْدِيِّ ، قَالا : كَانَ سَعْدٌ يُعَلِّمُ بَنِيهِ هَؤُلاءِ الْكَلِمَاتِ كَمَا يُعَلِّمُ الْمَكْتَبُ الْغِلْمَانَ ، يَقُولُ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَتَعَوَّذُ بِهِنَّ بَعْدَ كُلِّ صَلاةٍ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْبُخْلِ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْجُبْنِ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ أَنْ أُرَدَّ إِلَى أَرْذَلِ الْعُمُرِ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الدُّنْيَا ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ " .
Abdul Malik bin Umair narrates from Mus'ab bin Sa'd and Amr bin Maymun Awdi. Sayyiduna Sa'd (may Allah be pleased with him) used to teach these words to his children just as a teacher teaches students (in a school). He used to say: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to seek refuge with these words after prayer: "O Allah! I seek refuge in You from miserliness, and I seek refuge in You from cowardice, and I seek refuge in You from being returned to a feeble old age, and I seek refuge in You from the trials of the world, and I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave."
