Hadith 2017
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ بْنِ خُزَيْمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو قُدَامَةَ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ حَسَّانَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ أَفْلَحَ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " أُمِرْنَا أَنْ نُسَبِّحَ فِي دُبُرِ كُلِّ صَلاةٍ ثَلاثًا وَثَلاثِينَ ، وَنُحِمِّدَ ثَلاثًا وَثَلاثِينَ ، وَنُكَبِّرَ أَرْبَعًا وَثَلاثِينَ " ، فَأُتِيَ رَجُلٌ فِي مَنَامِهِ ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ : إِنَّهُ أَمَرَكُمْ مُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنْ تُسَبِّحُوا فِي دُبُرُ كُلُّ صَلاةٍ ثَلاثًا وَثَلاثِينَ ، وَتُحَمِّدُوا ثَلاثًا وَثَلاثِينَ ، وَتُكَبِّرُوا أَرْبَعًا وَثَلاثِينَ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ . قَالَ : اجْعَلُوهَا خَمْسًا وَعِشْرِينَ ، وَاجْعَلُوا فِيهِ التَّهْلِيلَ . فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحَ ، أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَخْبَرَهُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " فَافْعَلُوهُ " .
Sayyiduna Zaid bin Thabit (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: We were commanded to recite Subhan Allah thirty-three times after every prayer, Alhamdulillah thirty-three times, and Allahu Akbar thirty-four times. Then, in his dream, a person came to him and said: Sayyiduna Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) has commanded you to recite Subhan Allah thirty-three times, Alhamdulillah thirty-three times, and Allahu Akbar thirty-four times after every prayer. Sayyiduna Zaid replied: Yes. So that person said: You may recite each of them twenty-five times and also include La ilaha illallah in it. When morning came, he presented himself before the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and informed him about this. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: You may do so.
