Section on Qunut - Description of salam when intending to exit the prayer
Hadith 1991
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ النَّرْسِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الأَحْوَصِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُسَلِّمُ عَنْ يَمِينِهِ ، وَعَنْ شِمَالِهِ : " السَّلامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ ، السَّلامُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَةُ اللَّهِ " ، حَتَّى يُرَى بَيَاضُ خَدِّهِ .
Sayyiduna Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: In prayer, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) would turn to the right and to the left while saying "As-salamu alaikum wa rahmatullah, as-salamu alaikum wa rahmatullah," until the whiteness of his cheek would become visible.
