Chapter on the Description of Prayer - Report refuting those who claim that supplicating in prayers with things not in the Quran invalidates the prayer
Hadith 1977
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ الْمَاجِشُونِ ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رِضْوَانُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، إِذَا سَجَدَ قَالَ : " اللَّهُمَّ لَكَ سَجَدْتُ ، وَبِكَ آمَنْتُ ، وَلَكَ أَسْلَمْتُ ، سَجَدَ وَجْهِي لِلَّذِي خَلَقَهُ وَصَوَّرَهُ فَأَحْسَنَ صُوَرَهُ ، وَشَقَّ سَمْعَهُ وَبَصَرَهُ ، فَتَبَارَكَ اللَّهُ أَحْسَنُ الْخَالِقِينَ " .
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Whenever the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) went into prostration, he used to recite: "O Allah! I have prostrated for You, I have believed in You, and I have submitted to You. My face has prostrated before the One Who created it, fashioned it, and gave it a beautiful form, Who granted it hearing and sight. So blessed is Allah, the Best of creators."
