Chapter on the Description of Prayer - Description of what to seek refuge from after the testimony of faith in prayer
Hadith 1968
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ الْكَلاعِيُّ ، بِحِمْصَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَدْعُو فِي الصَّلاةِ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ النَّارِ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَسِيحِ الدَّجَّالِ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكْ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَحْيَا وَالْمَمَاتِ . اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْمَأْثَمِ وَالْمَغْرَمِ " . قَالَتْ : فَقَالَ قَائِلٌ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ مَا أَكْثَرَ مَا تَسْتَعِيذُ مِنَ الْمَغْرَمِ . فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ إِذَا غَرِمَ حَدَّثَ فَكَذَبَ ، وَوَعَدَ فَأَخْلَفَ " .
Sayyidah Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to supplicate during prayer: "O Allah! I seek refuge in You from the punishment of Hell, and I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave. I seek refuge in You from the trial of the Dajjal, and I seek refuge in You from the trials of life and death. O Allah! I seek refuge in You from sin and debt." Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: A man said, "O Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him)! You frequently seek refuge from debt. (What is the wisdom behind this?)" The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "When a person is in debt, he speaks and lies, and when he makes a promise, he breaks it."
