Chapter on the Description of Prayer - What to supplicate for after the testimony of faith before ending the prayer
Hadith 1966
أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ خُزَيْمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا بَحْرُ بْنُ نَصْرِ بْنِ سَابِقٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَسَّانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الْمَاجِشُونُ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ الأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي رَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ آخِرُ مَا يَقُولُ بَيْنَ التَّشَهُّدِ وَالتَّسْلِيمِ : " اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي مَا قَدَّمْتُ ، وَمَا أَخَّرْتُ ، وَمَا أَسْرَرْتُ ، وَمَا أَعْلَنْتُ ، وَمَا أَسْرَفْتُ ، وَمَا أَنْتَ أَعْلَمُ بِهِ مِنِّي ، أَنْتَ الْمُقَدَّمُ وَأَنْتَ الْمُؤَخَّرُ ، لا إِلَهَ إِلا أَنْتَ " .
Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to recite this at the very end between Tashahhud and Salam: "O Allah! Forgive me for what I have done before and what I will do later, what I have done secretly and what I have done openly, and for any excess, and for everything about which You have more knowledge than I do. O Allah, forgive me for all of that. Surely, You are the One Who brings forward and the One Who delays. There is no deity except You."
