Chapter on the Manner of Prayer – Recommendation to sit briefly after the first and third prostration before standing
Hadith 1934
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ أَبِي عَوْنٍ الرَّيَّانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا هُشَيْمٌ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلابَةَ ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ الْحُوَيْرِثِ : " أَنَّهُ رَأَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يُصَلِّي فَإِذَا كَانَ فِي وِتْرٍ مِنْ صَلاتِهِ ، لَمْ يَنْهَضْ حَتَّى يَسْتَوِيَ جَالِسًا " .
Sayyiduna Malik bin Huwairith (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: He saw the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) performing prayer, and when he would stand up for the odd rak‘ah (i.e., the third rak‘ah) in prayer, he would not rise until he had first sat straight.
