Chapter on the Manner of Prayer – The seven limbs on which one must prostrate
Hadith 1925
أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو يَعْلَى ، حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْحَجَّاجِ السَّامِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ طَاوُسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أَسْجُدَ عَلَى سَبْعَةِ أَعْظُمٍ : الْجَبْهَةِ ، وَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ إِلَى أَنْفِهِ ، وَالْيَدَيْنِ ، وَالرُّكْبَتَيْنِ ، وَالْقَدَمَيْنِ ، وَلا أَكُفَّ الثِّيَابَ وَلا الشَّعْرَ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "I have been commanded to prostrate on seven bones: the forehead—he also pointed with his blessed hand towards his nose—both hands, both knees, and the toes of both feet. And I should not gather up the clothes or the hair (during prayer)."
