Chapter on the Manner of Prayer – Command to keep the thighs together in prostration
Hadith 1917
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ السَّلامِ ، بِبَيْرُوتَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْحَكَمِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنِ اللَّيْثِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ دَرَّاجٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ حُجَيْرَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِذَا سَجَدَ أَحَدُكُمْ فَلا يَفْتَرِشِ افْتِرَاشَ الْكَلْبِ ، وَلْيَضُمَّ فَخِذَيْهِ " . قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : لَمْ يَسْمَعِ اللَّيْثُ مِنْ دَرَّاجٍ غَيْرَ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates this statement of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): "When a person goes into prostration, he should not spread (his arms) like a dog, and he should keep his knees together." (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The narrator named Layth has not heard any hadith from the narrator named Darraj except this hadith.
