Chapter on the Manner of Prayer – Command to aim for the ground in prostration as it leads to humility before Allah
Hadith 1913
أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى الشَّحَّامُ ، بِالرِّيِّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ وَارَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ رَوْحٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، عَنِ الزُّبَيْدِيِّ ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدَ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ ، مَوْلَى آلِ طَلْحَةَ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ عِنْدَ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَتَاهَا ذُو قَرَابَتِهَا غُلامٌ شَابٌّ ذُو جُمَّةٍ ، فَقَامَ يُصَلِّي ، فَلَمَّا ذَهَبَ لِيَسْجُدَ ، نَفَخَ ، فَقَالَتْ : لا تَفْعَلْ فَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقُولُ لِغُلامٍ لَنَا أَسْوَدَ : " يَا رَبَاحُ ، تَرِّبْ وَجْهَكَ " .
Abu Salih narrates: I was present with the noble wife of the Prophet (peace be upon him), Sayyida Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her). A young man from among her relatives came to her who had long hair. He stood up and began to perform prayer. When he was about to go into prostration, he blew first. So Sayyida Umm Salamah said: Do not do this, because the Prophet (peace be upon him) said to one of our black boys, "O Rabah, (during prostration) make your face dusty."
