Chapter on the Manner of Prayer – On what is said in bowing during prayer
Hadith 1897
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، وَأَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ ، عَنِ الأَعْمَشِ ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدَةَ ، عَنِ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ بْنِ أَحْنَفَ ، عَنْ صِلَةَ بْنَ زُفَرَ ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ ، قَالَ : " صَلَّيْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَلَمَّا رَكَعَ جَعَلَ يَقُولُ : سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِيمِ . ثُمَّ سَجَدَ فَقَالَ : سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الأَعْلَى " .
Sayyiduna Hudhayfah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: I performed prayer behind the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). When he went into bowing (ruku‘), he began to recite «سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْعَظِیمِ», and when he went into prostration (sajdah), he recited «سُبْحَانَ رَبِّيَ الْأَعْلَی».
