Chapter on the Manner of Prayer – Prohibition of not straightening the back in bowing and prostration
Hadith 1891
أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدُ بْنُ مُسَرْهَدٍ ، عَنْ مُلازِمِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ بَدْرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ شَيْبَانَ الْحَنَفِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، وَكَانَ أَحَدَ الْوَفْدِ السِّتَّةِ ، قَالَ : قَدِمْنَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَصَلَّيْنَا مَعَهُ ، فَلَمَحَ بِمُؤَخَّرِ عَيْنَيْهِ رَجُلا لا يُقِرُّ صُلْبَهُ فِي الرُّكُوعِ وَالسُّجُودِ ، فَقَالَ : " إِنَّهُ لا صَلاةَ لِمَنْ لَمْ يُقِمْ صُلْبَهُ " .
Abdur Rahman bin Ali bin Shaiban narrates from his father, who was one of the six members of a delegation. He states: We presented ourselves before the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). We performed prayer behind him. The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) saw, from the corner of his eyes, a person who was not keeping his back straight during bowing (ruku) and prostration (sajda). So the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: The prayer of that person is not valid who does not keep his back straight.
