Chapter on the Manner of Prayer – Report on Malik ibn al-Huwayrith’s practice of what the Prophet commanded him in prayer
Hadith 1873
أَخْبَرَنَا شَبَّابُ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ، بِوَاسِطٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ بَقِيَّةَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدٌ ، عَنْ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي قِلابَةَ : أَنَّهُ رَأَى مَالِكَ بْنَ الْحُوَيْرِثِ : " إِذَا صَلَّى كَبَّرَ ، وَرَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ ، وَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَرْكَعَ رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ ، وَإِذَا رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مِنَ الرُّكُوعِ ، رَفَعَ يَدَيْهِ " ، وَحَدَّثَ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَفْعَلُ هَكَذَا .
Abu Qilabah narrates: He saw Sayyiduna Malik bin Huwairith (may Allah be pleased with him), when he performed the prayer, he said the takbeer and raised his hands. When he intended to go into ruku, he raised his hands. When he raised his head from ruku, he raised his hands. He stated this, and the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do likewise.
