Chapter on the Manner of Prayer – On what is recited in the dawn prayer (Fajr) from the surahs
Hadith 1816
أَخْبَرَنَا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْحُبَابِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ الطَّيَالِسِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا زَائِدَةُ بْنُ قُدَامَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سِمَاكُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ : " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الصُّبْحِ بِ : ق وَالْقُرْآنِ الْمَجِيدِ " ، قَالَ : " وَكَانَتْ صَلاتُهُ بَعْدُ تَخْفِيفًا " .
Sayyiduna Jabir bin Samurah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to recite Surah Qaf in the Fajr prayer. The narrator states that later the Prophet (peace be upon him) would perform a relatively shorter prayer.
