Hadith 1813
أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الدَّوْرَقِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مُرَّةَ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا وَائِلٍ ، يُحَدِّثُ ، أَنَّ رَجُلا أَتَى ابْنَ مَسْعُودٍ ، فَقَالَ : إِنِّي قَرَأْتُ الْمُفَصَّلَ اللَّيْلَةَ كُلَّهُ فِي رَكْعَةٍ ، فَقَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ : هَذَا كَهَذِّ الشِّعْرِ ، " لَقَدْ عَرَفْنَا النَّظَائِرَ الَّتِي كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقْرِنُ بِهِنَّ ، فَذَكَرَ عِشْرِينَ سُورَةً مِنَ الْمُفَصَّلِ ، سُورَتَيْنِ ، سُورَتَيْنِ فِي رَكْعَةٍ " .
Abu Wa'il reports: A man came to Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) and said: "Last night I recited a Mufassal surah in one rak'ah." Sayyiduna Abdullah said: "This has become like reciting poetry quickly. We remember, the Prophet (peace be upon him) used to combine similar surahs and recite them together." Then he mentioned the surahs related to the Mufassal. The Prophet (peace be upon him) used to recite two surahs in one rak'ah.
