Chapter on the Manner of Prayer – Clarification that “Recite what is easy of it” refers to Al-Fatiha
Hadith 1782
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ الرَّبِيعِ ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ ، يَبْلُغُ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لا صَلاةَ لِمَنْ لا يَقْرَأُ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ " .
Sayyiduna Mahmood bin Rabee’ narrates about Sayyiduna ‘Ubadah bin Samit (may Allah be pleased with him). He learned about this statement of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him): “The prayer of that person is not valid who does not recite Surah Al-Fatihah (in the prayer).”
