Chapter on the Manner of Prayer – Report of a scholar who mistakenly thought that one must say “Allahu Akbar” at every movement in prayer
Hadith 1766
أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ سَعِيدِ بْنِ سِنَانٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ : " كَانَ يُصَلِّي بِهِمْ كَانَ يُكَبِّرُ فِي كُلِّ خَفْضٍ وَرَفْعٍ " ، فَإِذَا انْصَرَفَ قَالَ : إِنِّي لأَشْبَهُكُمْ صَلاةً بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
Abu Salamah narrates: Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) led those people in prayer. He would say the takbeer every time he bowed and every time he rose. Then, when he completed the prayer, he said: "I am the one among you whose prayer most closely resembles the prayer of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)."
