Chapter on the Manner of Prayer – On the command to approach prayer calmly when intending to perform an obligatory prayer
Hadith 1755
أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ خُزَيْمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سَلْمُ بْنُ جُنَادَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلاةُ ، فَلا تَقُومُوا حَتَّى تَرَوْنِي ، وَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ " .
Abdullah bin Abu Qatadah narrates from his father: The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "When the Iqamah for prayer is called, do not stand up until you see me. It is obligatory upon you to adopt tranquility (that is, calmness and composure)."
