Chapter on Virtue of the Five Prayers - The Prophet’s analogy of one who prays to someone bathing in a flowing river.
Hadith 1725
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَحْمُودِ بْنِ عَدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ زَنْجُوَيْهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَعْلَى بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَعْمَشُ ، عَنْ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَثَلُ الصَّلَوَاتِ الْمَكْتُوبَاتِ كَمَثَلِ نَهْرٍ جَارٍ عَلَى بَابِ أَحَدِكُمْ يَغْتَسِلُ مِنْهُ كُلَّ يَوْمٍ خَمْسَ مَرَّاتٍ " .
Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The example of the obligatory prayers is like that of a river flowing at the door of one of you, in which he bathes five times a day."
