Chapter on Conditions of Prayer - Instruction to cover the thigh, as it is awrah (private).
Hadith 1710
أَخْبَرَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي مَعْشَرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الصَّوَّافُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ سُفِيانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ ، عَنْ زُرْعَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ جَرْهَدٍ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَرَّ بِهِ وَقَدْ كَشَفَ فَخِذَهُ ، فَقَالَ : " غَطِّهَا ، فَإِنَّهَا عَوْرَةٌ " .
Sayyiduna Jarir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: Once the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) passed by him while he had removed the cloth from his knees, so the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Cover it, for it is something that should be concealed."
