Chapter on Adhan - Allah’s forgiveness for one who testifies to His oneness and the Prophet’s message.
Hadith 1693
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْجُنَيْدِ ، بِبُسْتَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ ، عَنِ الْحُكَيْمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ قَيْسٍ ، عَنْ عَامِرِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ قَالَ حِينَ يَسْمَعُ الْمُؤَذِّنَ : وَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ أَنْ لا إِلَهَ إِلا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لا شَرِيكَ لَهُ ، وَأَشْهَدُ أَنَّ مُحَمَّدًا عَبْدُهُ وَرَسُولُهُ ، رَضِيتُ بِاللَّهِ رَبًّا ، وَبِالإِسْلامِ دِينًا ، وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَسُولا ، غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا تَقَدَّمَ مِنْ ذَنْبِهِ " .
Aamir bin Sa’d bin Abi Waqqas narrates from his father that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever, upon hearing the muezzin (the call to prayer), says: I also bear witness that there is no deity except Allah, He is One, He has no partner, and I bear witness that Muhammad (peace be upon him) is His servant and His Messenger. I am pleased with Allah as Lord, with Islam as religion, and with Muhammad (peace be upon him) as Messenger (that is, I have faith in them), (the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, says) then the person’s past sins are forgiven.”
