Chapter on Adhan - Report refuting the claim that Abd al-Rahman ibn Jubayr did not hear this from Abdullah ibn Amr.
Hadith 1692
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الأَزْدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْمُقْرِئُ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَيْوَةُ بْنُ شُرَيْحٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي كَعْبُ بْنُ عَلْقَمَةَ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفِيرٍ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عَمْرٍو ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " إِذَا سَمِعْتُمُ الْمُؤَذِّنَ فَقُولُوا مِثْلَ مَا يَقُولُ ، وَصَلُّوا عَلَيَّ ، فَإِنَّهُ مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيَّ صَلاةً صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ عَشْرًا ، ثُمَّ سَلُوا لِيَ الْوَسِيلَةَ ، فَإِنَّهَا مَنْزِلَةٌ فِي الْجَنَّةِ ، لا تَنْبَغِي أَنْ تَكُونَ إِلا لِعَبْدٍ مِنْ عِبَادِ اللَّهِ ، وَأَرْجُو أَنْ أَكُونَ أَنَا هُوَ ، فَمَنْ سَأَلَ اللَّهَ لِيَ الْوَسِيلَةَ ، حَلَّتْ لَهُ الشَّفَاعَةُ " .
Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: He heard the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) saying: "When you hear the muezzin, say the same words as he says, and send blessings upon me, for whoever sends blessings upon me once, Allah sends mercy upon him ten times. Then ask Allah to grant me al-Wasilah, for it is a rank in Paradise which will be given to only one of Allah’s servants, and I hope that I will be that servant. Whoever asks Allah for al-Wasilah for me, my intercession will become obligatory for him."
